Hello. R. J. Lee here.
In early 1776, Thomas Paine began publishing Common Sense, a pamphlet to give colonists in America information, perspectives and opinions to think about regarding the colony’s impending declaration of independence from England. This publication appealed to their use of common sense, to think for themselves, to take personal responsibility for what they think and what they believe. And, the people did their job. They took personal responsibility for what they believed and, with a healthy dose of skepticism, questioned to understand, made their decisions, and took action to build, in time, a nation that, for more than 250 years, people around the world still flock to in droves. Unfortunately, common sense is no longer common these days. It is no longer used by many people today, as it was in the past, before the dawn of the Information Age and the willing surrender of personal responsibility. Today, sadly, that nation, America, our country, is greatly divided and moving ever closer to the breaking point. And, how did that happen? “Gradually, then suddenly”, as an insightful author once wrote.
Well, it’s time again for everyone to take responsibility for selecting leaders who are out for YOU. For selecting the values and strategies that serves the majority, as requested. And, for everyone to invoke a healthy dose of common sense in the selection of both.
Someone is always going to disagree with someone. And, it’s okay to have different points of views and opinions. It’s okay to disagree. Why, it’s even necessary to hear other ways, perspectives, and opinions so as to not be blind to reality. I don’t know it all. You don’t know it all. Neither he nor she knows it all. They don’t know it all. No one can see it all, or know it all. No one. As Wayne Dyer said, “This is my way. What is your way? There is no ‘the‘, only, way”.
